Has Advent Come Early?

Our family, like so many, is embracing Christmas early. Christmas music and movies have been blasting hope, joy, and love into our home since mid October.

Advent, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for God’s intervention has been inaugurated despite the month at the top of the calendar. 2020 has provided the opportunity to engage with God afresh and submit to His ways and timetable.

The Church needs to know that Emmanuel “God with us” is still on the throne and very active bringing light and truth in the midst of all the fear, chaos, and division like He has since the beginning.

And God saw the light as pleasing and beautiful; he used the light to dispel the darkness.

Genesis 1:4 TPT (emphasis mine)

He is still using the light of His truth to dispel darkness as I repent for all the ways I have put my needs, wants, and understanding before Him and have allowed Him to be eclipsed by others. I repent from becoming distracted and stirred up with passion for people and politics instead of the person of Jesus Christ Himself: in all His purity, humility, goodness and kindness.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;

Try me, and know my anxieties;

24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,

And lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV (emphasis mine)

23 God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart.

Examine me through and through;

find out everything that may be hidden within me.

Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.

24 See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on,

and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting ways—

the path that brings me back to you.

Psalm 139:23-24 TPT

If we call ourselves Christians, then we have the responsibility to do ALL He commissioned us with humility and boldness. This mission needs to be deep in our hearts and clear in our minds and can only come from the Bible—the Word of God Himself.

But the one who indulges in a sinful life is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was revealed was to undo and destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8 TPT (emphasis mine)

17 “Your Word is truth! So make them holy by the truth.

18 I have commissioned them to represent me

just as you commissioned me to represent you.

19 And now I dedicate myself to them as a holy sacrifice

so that they will live as fully dedicated to God

and be made holy by your truth.

John 17:17-19 TPT (emphasis mine)

Calling Jesus Lord is costly.

When Jesus is truly Lord of our lives, it means that WE ARE NOT.

Christians, by submitting to the Lordship of Jesus in our lives, we have given up the right to live how we want and on our own.

Instead, we have given our lives to Him and for His glory on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).

We have to stay in the Word of God and allow it to guide us and cut through ALL lies, because lies originate from one source: the father of lies.

Only the Holy Spirit can breathe on the Word of God and bring revelation and understanding. We need to be sensitive and submissive to the Holy Spirit’s teaching and correction.

You live fully in me [Jesus] and now I live fully in them

so that they will experience perfect unity,

and the world will be convinced that you have sent me,

for they will see that you love each one of them

with the same passionate love that you have for me.

John 17:23 TPT (emphasis mine)

May we be sanctified by Your truth and made one in perfect unity by the power of your Holy Spirit to destroy the works of the devil!

Prayer for our country and a revival generation by a 10 year old.
Powerful new song just released to remind us of the power of our praise.

I See the Church Uniting

Despite what we see in the news and in the world around us, I see the people of God uniting against injustice.

I SEE the people of God UNITING against INJUSTICE!

As the people of God we ARE the Body of Christ and therefore, we must represent Him WELL.

17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of rules about food and drink, but is in the realm of the Holy Spirit, filled with righteousness, peace, and joy. 18 Serving the Anointed One by walking in these kingdom realities pleases God and earns the respect of others. Romans 14:17 TPT

I see passionate followers of Jesus, praising, worshiping and uniting against ANY deceit or wrongdoing in this election. Christians who voted for either candidate should be willing to lay down their preference to seek Jesus for justice and truth.

We can agree that His Kingdom is righteousness and there is no room for compromise on this even if we deeply want a certain candidate to win. Their leadership would be instituted on unrighteousness and I believe that will cause this nation to suffer even more. We must, as the people of God, surrender our preferences for righteousness and continue praying and warring in the spiritual realm against ALL evil and darkness.

As we pray and worship we WILL experience a UNITY that moves the heart of God and releases His Kingdom, righteousness, peace and joy, like never before!

But we must seek Him like never before!

We must intercede for truth and justice like never before!

Our country desperately needs this and it is up to the people of God to stand in the gap and truly be the salt and light of the world (Matthew 5:13-16).

Let’s agree Jesus is the only way to get there and trust He knows what’s best for our nation. Let’s commit to partnering with Him in prayer to co-labor to see His Kingdom come, His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Please check out this powerful video.

This song was written by Sean Feucht, Meredith Andrews (and her husband) for such a time as this.

May the Church walk in the Kingdom realties of righteousness, peace and joy in such purity that it pleases and glorifies Jesus for the whole world to see!

Giving My Fresh ‘Yes’

My absence from blogging over the past few months was necessary to process all that has been going on in the world since May. I needed to stay focused on Jesus through prayerful journaling and reflection.

I don’t know about you, but I have come to realize that my previous understanding of the Lordship of Jesus Christ was shallow. These last few months have challenged me on so many levels regarding my relationship with God the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.

I thought I had surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus in my life, but I think I am just beginning to step into this way of living with deeper understanding.

Up until this point, it has been all about me and what I wanted and thought was best, yet I thought I was truly living for Him. Careful reflection and gentle correction has invited me to more.

The more is to follow in the example set by Jesus, Himself, in submitting to the will of the Father in every situation. I want to live my life as a love offering full of gratitude for all the Lord has done and continues to do in my life.

There is such joy in living for His honor and pleasure even during the hardest of days, because He is with Me and His Presence and love is enough. Sure I still get discouraged and have hard days.

However, it takes the simplest acknowledgement that I am seen and understood by Him to melt my heart and soothe my angst. His Presence breathes life into me and once again fills me with hope.

I get to say ‘yes’ to Him and His will everyday and all throughout the day. I get to carry His Presence in my home with my family as we learn, in my neighborhood as we exercise, or at the store as we shop.

There is nothing glamorous about the mundane, but I am living more fully aware of the gift of being alive during this time in history. I really feel like the Lord is taking us deeper into His heart and purifying our love and devotion for Him so we can rise as His beautiful body here on earth.

The following song, “Lord of the Harvest,” has been on repeat since it was released a few weeks ago. Please take time to listen and engage with this 7 minute video (when you have time) and consider the words and the implication of your fresh ‘yes’ to Jesus who remains confidently on His throne.

The Message God Wants You to Hear

I feel so strongly that the Lord is gathering His children like never before.

Perhaps you were raised in the faith, but life took some twists and turns and you don’t feel like God is really a part of your life right now. Or maybe you had a bad experience at church and you were deeply hurt by a pastor or by people, you thought you could trust, so you walked away.

Perhaps you have been faithfully walking through the motions of faith for decades, but you sense there is more to Jesus than you have experienced so far. You see others lost in worship and adoring Jesus and wonder why you don’t know how that feels.

I have good news for you if you fall into one of those categories or any other.

No matter what your story has been, and where you find yourself today, I believe the Holy Spirit, the power of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, is reaching out to YOU this day.

He is speaking the following words to YOU.

I’m standing at your door

My heart is calling yours

Come fall into my arms

You’re weary from it all

Been running for too long

I’m here to bring you home

I’m reaching out

I’ll chase you down

I dare you to believe

How much I love you now

Don’t be afraid

I am your strength

We’ll be walking on the water

Dancing on the waves

Look up and lift your eyes

The future’s open wide

I have great plans for you

Your past is dead and gone

Your healing has begun

I’m making all things new

I set every star into place

So that you would remember my name

I made it all for you

But you are my masterpiece

You are the reason I sing

This is my song for you

These are the lyrics to the powerful song, “Dancing on the Waves” by We the Kingdom and was recently released on the new Bethel Music Peace Album.

I dare you to believe how much I love you now.

I really believe that the Lord is challenging all of us, to really believe how much He loves us. He demonstrated His love by coming to earth to die for our sins. He suffered great beatings at the hands of Roman soldiers and then suffered the humiliation of death by crucifixion.

He experienced separation from God the Father for the first time in all eternity, all so we wouldn’t have to know separation from God anymore. He was buried in a tomb to the shock of all who knew and loved him.

BUT GOD!

On the third day He rose again, satisfying the payment of sin and death. He was the perfect Lamb, sinless in every way, yet He willingly suffered the punishment you and I deserved so that we could all be reunited as brothers and sisters in God’s family.

The Kingdom of God is family.

It’s time to come home. It’s time to receive His free gift of salvation and to realize all He has done for you. It’s time to know how loved you are, right now, just for being you. You don’t have to act a certain way or be a certain way. He wants you to be who He created you to be.

If you have said yes to Jesus and thanked Him for suffering and dying for you, and from this point on decide to live your life in gratitude to Him and to God the Father by following and obeying them; then you can receive the Holy Spirit as a downpayment to live inside of you. You are a new creation. You have been born of the Spirit and you are part of the family of God.

Welcome home brother or sister!

We have been waiting for you! We are so happy you are home! All of Heaven is rejoicing that you have been born again of the Spirit.

Please tell someone in your life that you have received Jesus and want to get to know Him better. Check out some churches online during this quarantine. Download the Bible App and start reading the Bible and some of the free devotionals that can be found there to help you grow. The Holy Spirit in you will teach and guide you to the right church and fellowship of brothers and sister where you can learn and grow and heal.

The rest of us are being invited to enter into a time of living fully as a child of God. It’s time for us to know our Heavenly Father and how good He really is like never before. It’s time to arise and shine as we allow the Holy Spirit to purify our hearts and lead us into intimacy and righteousness like never before.

Lord, cause us to hunger after You and your righteousness like never before! Help us to believe how loved we really are by You. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, help us to love one another well so that we may walk in unity so the unbelieving world will become convinced that you have sent [Jesus], for they will see that You love each one of them with the same passionate love that You have for [Jesus] (John 17:23-26)

Have a blessed weekend and receive all He has for you!

Opportunities for Growth Living in Quarantine

How are you?

Perhaps the shock of our new way of life is starting to wear off as you establish a new normal for this season.

I would encourage you to pay attention to what emotions bubbled up over the past week. It is very likely that many of us were triggered in some way by an emotional memory or traumatic event and that’s okay.

The Lord allows us to be triggered in areas where He knows we are ready for Him to bring healing. He invites us to bring those feelings to Him and dialogue about them.

Yes, I really do mean dialogue.

Expect Him to speak back as you quiet yourself and listen for His gentle impressions, still small voice or highlighted verses as you read the Bible or devotional resources.

The Holy Spirit is a real person and wants to bring you comfort and peace. There is a reason He is called the Counselor. He longs to bring truth and understanding to what is going on inside of you because He knows and cares. He loves YOU!

Since most of the world is in quarantine, we have a unique opportunity to slow down and simplify our lives to what matters most. The quarantine forces us to face ourselves and our internal reality. We have a choice: to fill our time to “just get through” or to seek to grow.

I believe many of us need to grow emotionally, spiritually, relationally or even intellectually.

I have been reviewing my journals over the past year to see what bible verses, songs or quotes have really been speaking to me. What have I heard the Lord say to me over the past year or so? What has He been teaching me?

This is important because I believe He has been uniquely preparing each of us for this time. He has equipped us with biblical truths that He wants to become a reality in our lives in a new way. This is when we go from simply mentally agreeing with biblical truth, to actually experiencing it in a way that it becomes a deep part of our life.

I have been listening to songs that have touched my heart in the last few months and asking the Lord to reveal some of the reasons He has highlighted these song to me. I then put these songs on periodically throughout the day and worship until I once again believe the truths they declare and fortify my peace.

I truly believe we have a unique opportunity for the Lord to firm up our foundations so we can truly abide in Him like never before. He wants us to be so anchored in Him that others take notice and want to know the Jesus we do.

We must choose to believe He is who He says He is and who He has demonstrated Himself to be in the Bible and in our lives up until this point.

“Jesus, the Anointed One, is always the same—yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 TPT

Our circumstances are changing, but Jesus is not. Let Him keep you anchored in this storm so that you may stand even when things are shaking all around you.

So now, beloved ones, stand firm and secure. Live your lives with an unshakable confidence. We know that we prosper and excel in every season by serving the Lord, because we are assured that our union with the Lord makes our labor productive with fruit that endures.   1Corinthians 15:58 The Passion Translation

I want to leave you with this powerful song by Bryan and Katie Torwalt, “Prophesy Your Promise,” to encourage you to declare the truth of who He is in the times when it may be hard to remember.

“Fear can go to hell, shame can go there too,

I know who’s I am, God I belong to you.”

What verses or songs have been strengthening you recently?

Feel free to share them in the comments as it may encourage someone else.

Blessings to you and your family for good health and peace.
