How Needy Are You?

I was listening to the newest album released by Jesus Culture entitled Why Not Right Now? and was stirred by an interlude by Corey Russell. He shared that God honors hunger and that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled (Matthew 5:6).

In Matthew 5:3, it states, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs in the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus is saying that those who recognize their limitations and need for Him will experience King Jesus and His Kingdom.

Our weakness is a blessing because it allows God’s strength to be displayed in and through us (2 Corinthians 12:9). God is glorified in our weakness when we surrender and allow Him to be our strength and do things in His way and timing.

As Christians, we are members of an “upside down” kingdom that directly contrasts the world. God’s Kingdom has different values than this world because the ruler of this world is satan (John 12:31).

An accurate revelation of our need for God will yield increased spiritual hunger.

Maybe you read my post “How Hungry Are You? and wondered what to do if you want to increase your hunger.

Pray and ask Holy Spirit to give you a revelation of your need for Him daily. Ask for a revelation of how, apart from Him and His empowering grace, you and I can do nothing (John 15:5). Confess your need of Him and ask Him to fill you with more of Him. Feed on His Word and talk to Him throughout your day, and you will be blessed.

Lord, I confess my complete need for You. I need Your wisdom and strength. Give me a greater revelation of my need for You and help me meditate on verses that I need to get in the deepest parts of me. Increase my hunger so Your strength may be seen in and through my weakness for Your glory. I love you, Jesus, and I ask this is all in Your name. Amen.

  1. LORD Make me powerless and You only the source of my need…LORD make me hungry and You the only One able to feed my needs. IN JESUS Name through Your Spirit.
