Reflections On The Fire Within

It’s so easy for Christians to be overly focused on who we are as people in the natural that we forget the reality of who lives in us and that we have been born again as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We are NOT who we once were, and that is why it is so essential to read and meditate on the Word of God, so we come into agreement with the truth of what it says rather than following the ways of this world (Romans 12:1-2).

We know Holy Spirit was sent after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension (Acts 1:8, 2:32-33, 37-39).

“Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.””

Acts 2:38-39 NKJV

I spent some time in Colossians this morning, reminding myself of who Jesus is and how powerful He is.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”

Colossians 1:15-16 NKJV

Jesus joined in creation with Father and Holy Spirit and continues to sustain everything (Genesis 1:2).

“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Colossians 1:27 NKJV

I encourage you to join me in meditating on Jesus as the hope of glory dwelling inside each Christian through Holy Spirit. Imagine Jesus at the Transfiguration radiating a glorious light that pierces the darkness.

“Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.”

Luke 9:28-31 NKJV

“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”

Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV

“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

Colossians 2:15 NKJV

The fullness of the Godhead dwells in us! The one who disarmed principalities and powers lives inside you and me! Think of how that truth changes our body and how we walk around with the One who wants to be released to anyone needing healing and wholeness. We must not forget this and practice living aware of it as we go about our day. The hope of glory lives inside every believer.

Lord, helps us to meditate on this truth so it becomes a deep part of us. We need a fresh revelation of who You are and how You came to destroy the works of the devil everywhere (1 John 3:8). We are now on this same assignment and can do all things through You, Jesus, for Your honor and glory in Your name. Amen.

  1. I love all the verses that you quoted…TO dwell in who He is …is not only powerful but difficult the stuff of here is ready to pounce on us but we are fitted with the Power of a Great God…we have to allow that to be what will make this journey a victory…Thanks Alison
