Have you ever felt like you “stumbled” into something only to find out later that God chose you for it?
That’s how I feel about discovering Song of Songs and its life-changing message, which led to this blog, Secret Spring.
It was a slow process of progressive revelation, and after eight years, it is starting to make more sense.
My husband and I attended a conference at a church about 45 minutes away. We went because we had heard a speaker on a live stream from a church cross-country and were surprised he and his wife would be in our area.
We went with curiosity and some nerves because, growing up, we had heard the hosting church was a bit “wild” and into weird spiritual things.
I have to laugh now because they were and are Spirit-led, believing the Bible and that Jesus meant what He said that because of Holy Spirit, we will do greater things.
“I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father!”
John 14:12 TPT
The people of the church were welcoming, and the speaker was engaging. As he spoke, we both felt an anointing of his words as we had when watching him online. Our hearts burned, and we knew Holy Spirit was active and working. It was exhilarating and life-giving to be in the room.
If I remember correctly, there was a brief intermission for people to use the restroom or visit the book table in the back.
We wandered to the book table curiously. We were both surprised by how many books were available from someone we had recently learned about.
The woman running the table made eye contact and gave us a giant smile that lingered. Then she grabbed two copies of a thin book on the table and handed it to us, saying, “I’m supposed to give this to you.”
Ryan and I were shocked but received the books, gave a somewhat confused thank you, and returned to our seats.
The rest of his talk was good, and we felt even more alive as the speaker continued to share. He wrapped up his message and said he and his wife would be available for prayer and to come forward if you were hungry for a fresh encounter with God.
Ryan and I shared a quick look and headed to the front of the auditorium, praying for God to touch us and desiring prayer by this couple. In time, while Ryan and I were both in prayer, the couple approached us and began praying and prophesying over us. It was powerful!
Their words had authority, and I felt a stirring warmth in the deepest place of my being. Somehow, I knew what they were saying was true, and I cried joyfully. They finished praying, and we returned to our seats changed from the encounter.
While my husband drove home, I tried to write down everything I remembered they spoke over us. I wanted to look up the scriptures they had shared and see if Holy Spirit would bring understanding or revelation about the experience.
I didn’t know it then; how could I have?
This encounter and gift of copies of the Song of Songs in The Passion Translation were the beginning of a transformation, and what we now know is part of our assignment to lead others to join the journey to become a secret spring for Jesus.
Lord, thank You for Your goodness and grace. You lead and guide us to where we need to be and who we need to meet at just the right time. You are the Master Builder, but help us to trust Your process, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
What has He called you to carry?
