Happy New Year! 2025 is especially exciting for our family because our daughter graduates high school this spring! As a homeschooling mom, this is extra exciting for us all!
Since 2012, I have sought the Lord for a word of the year and an accompanying verse. Some years, the word comes easily, and others require persistence and diligence to find one that resonates. Sometimes, I just pick one, trusting God is helping me.
I always take some time at the end of the year to reflect on my word and verse and journal about it. This practice helps me make the most of having a word of the year and process the year with God. I may have ideas of what a word would mean, but the Lord often teaches me way more than I could ever imagine.
Last year’s word was ANOINTED, and the verse was Isaiah 61:1. I can see that over 2024, I grew to understand God’s anointing in and on me, which touches people in new and more profound ways. Being willing to step out as a vessel for God to touch others is freeing and fun! Living life this way is never dull and full of adventure!
Jesus is the true Anointed One and lives IN me and any Christian by the Holy Spirit! What an amazing gift and honor to be a dwelling place for Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the resurrected Jesus. As long-time followers of Jesus, we may have become all too familiar with this truth without marveling in awe at what it means.
May we meditate on and cultivate fresh awe and wonder of the mystery of Christ in us as we begin this new year!
