MLK: Carrying on His Quest for Truth and Justice

Our church, North Jersey Vineyard, has a beautiful tradition of having Pastor Charles recite one of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s sermons in character for our sermon.

Rev. King preached the scriptures and the gospel of the Kingdom of God unapologetically when it was not easy but necessary. It was so powerful to hear his words proclaimed instead of just reading them on a page. It’s just as relevant to us today as it was 60 years ago, and this is discouraging but motivating to honor his life by living a life surrendered to Jesus and submitted to the Truth of God’s Word.

I encourage you to listen when you have a solid forty-five minutes to devote to hearing his timely and encouraging message for us living in 2023.

Sermon given in character by Pastor Charles beginning at 43:29.

Lord, thank you for Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; his life, ministry and calling. Please comfort his family for his loss and reveal to each of us how to carry on his tradition of living out the gospel of the Kingdom of God in our world. Give us the grace to unite as children of God and celebrate the beauty of our racial and cultural differences so it may be a sign and a wonder to a hurting and lost world the truth of how good and real You are, Jesus. May You receive the full reward of Your suffering and all the glory. Amen.
