I’ve meant to write an update on The Bible Recap (TBR) for months. I am still keeping up with the plan and enjoying it very much. It is a chronological Bible plan to complete the Bible in one year. I access the plan through The Bible App but check out https://www.thebiblerecap.com/start to learn more.
The New Testament started on October 1st. It is often less reading daily or feels that way since it is familiar. After each reading, I still appreciate the Recap videos, which ensure I understand everything. Tara-Leigh Cobble also includes relevant cultural or linguistic information to enhance our understanding and links to articles and other resources for those interested in going deeper on specific topics. What a blessing to have so much information all in one place.
I’m including a screenshot of today’s reading and how it appears in the Bible App. The recap video is found under the Devotional tab.

Today, we finished up Acts, the 51st book of the Bible. For people who are just doing the New Testament plan (which is an option), it was the 12th book.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the plan and will do it again at some point. Keeping my devotional time fresh is key to avoiding ‘going through the motions’ without fully engaging my heart. Therefore, I’m looking for a new plan or possibly resuming a less structured devotional time.
In the past, I have read a Psalm and Proverb a day and worked through a Bible book that I felt led to study. I take notes of verses that jump out at me or insights I receive. I pray for my family, friends, and whatever the Lord has placed on my heart that day. Some days, I include worship music and 20 minutes of praying in tongues whenever possible. I often take communion to conclude my quiet time or shortly after. I have found that daily confessing my sins and coming into agreement with the power of Christ’s death and resurrection through communion has been a fruitful piece of focusing on Jesus and giving Him my life each day.
Do you have any reading plans or devotional practices they have found helpful that I should try? Please share because it may help someone as we head into 2025.
